Purpose

Stichting Heavenly Garden Foundation aims to contribute to a healthy and sustainable world in which people and nature can flourish together.
The foundation focuses on restoring and strengthening biodiversity, healthy soils and local food systems. We inspire and support people and
communities in developing biodiverse, edible ecosystems – Heavenly Gardens – where food production, nature restoration, knowledge sharing
and community building come together.


We do this by making knowledge, plants, seeds and practical skills available, and by supporting people in creating, maintaining and propagating biodiverse edible gardens. The foundation particularly focuses on people and communities with limited access to the knowledge, resources and opportunities needed to build sustainable local food systems themselves.

Policy Plan – Key Principles

Heavenly Garden Foundation works from the belief that sustainable change begins when people have the knowledge, skills and resources to
restore their surroundings and grow their own food.

 

Our approach is based on three interconnected principles:


TRAIN – SHARE – MULTIPLY


1. Train

We support practical training and workshops on subjects including permaculture, soil health, biodiversity, food production, seed saving and
plant propagation.


2. Share
Knowledge, seeds, plants and experiences are shared within communities. In this way, we aim to strengthen local networks in which people support
one another and learn from each other.


3. Multiply
We encourage the local propagation of seeds, plants and trees. This allows a small initial investment to generate increasing amounts of planting
material and enables new gardens to be established.

Our Activities

The foundation develops and supports, among other things:

  • biodiverse and edible gardens;

  • demonstration and model gardens;

  • training programmes and workshops;

  • programmes for seed and plant propagation;

  • local knowledge and training networks;

  • the distribution of seeds, plants and trees;

  • educational materials and practical guides;

  • international projects focused on food security, biodiversity and local resilience.

 

An important part of our international activities takes place in Malawi, where we work with local organisations and communities to strengthen
local knowledge and skills in permaculture and sustainable food production.

The board members perform their duties independently and in the interest
of the foundation's objectives.

Remuneration Policy

The board members of Stichting Heavenly Garden Foundation do not receive remuneration for their work.
Board members may only be reimbursed for actual expenses that are reasonably necessary and incurred in carrying out their duties for the
foundation.


For any employees or external professionals engaged by the foundation, an appropriate and market-based remuneration policy applies, taking into
account the nature and scope of the work and the financial resources of the foundation.

Activities

Heavenly Garden Foundation develops activities that contribute to biodiversity, food security, nature restoration, knowledge sharing and the
strengthening of local communities.


Our activities include:

 

  • developing Heavenly Gardens;

  • educational workshops and training programmes;

  • sharing knowledge about permaculture and regenerative agriculture;

  • making seeds, plants and trees available and supporting their local propagation;

  • supporting local demonstration and model gardens;

  • developing educational materials;

  • supporting local people in establishing new gardens;

  • international cooperation and projects focused on sustainable food production and nature restoration.

Financial Accountability

The foundation uses its income to achieve its objectives. Income is generated through, among other things, donations, grants, contributions from partners and income from activities that support the foundation's objectives.


The foundation aims to manage and spend its resources carefully and transparently, ensuring that its available funds benefit its objectives as
much as possible.
